What would you say are the best hard rock songs from each year of the 90s? Did Loudwire get it right?

There were a lot of great hard rock songs that came out during the 90s. We got some great music from some of the best rock bands during that time. However, would you be able to narrow each year down to just one song? It's harder than you would think but Loudwire was up to the task. See what they considered to be the best hard rock songs from each year in the 90s below. Do you agree? What would you change?

Are These The Best Hard Rock Songs From Each Year In The 90s?

Loudwire starts in 1990 with "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC. I can't imagine there will be much arguing there. That remains a staple of hard rock today.

For 1991, Loudwire called Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" the best hard rock song. Again, I can't see anybody fighting that one. It defined the decade!

Loudwire kept the momentum and good picks rolling in 1992 with "Killing In The Name" by Rage Against The Machine. I swear it eventually gets more difficult! They're 3/3 right now.

"Today" by Smashing Pumpkins was named the best hard rock song of 1993 by Loudwire. It's still getting spins today but is it really hard rock? Eh. I guess so. This one probably has some debate that can be made.

In 1994, Loudwire named "Basket Case" by Green Day as the best hard rock song. It's not my favorite song of theirs but I recognize how good it is.

Loudwire named "More Human Than Human" by White Zombie the best hard rock song of 1995. I get it, it's understandable. It was different than a lot of the other hard rock at the time which made it really stand out and still does today. I didn't realize it was released in 1995!

Rage Against The Machine made their second appearance on Loudwire's list with "Bulls On Parade" in 1996. They really were everywhere in the 90s. One of the most iconic bands of the decade for sure.

Dave Grohl made the list earlier with Nirvana and now he's back on Loudwire's list of the best hard rock songs of the 90s with Foo Fighters' "Everlong" in 1997. It's one of my favorite songs of theirs but I think some people might have issue with it being called hard rock. Yes, the band is...but is the song? I'll let you debate.

Loudwire named "Celebrity Skin" by Hole the best hard rock song of 1998. I would have thought there was something bigger and better that year, but that's just my opinion.

Finally, in 1999 Loudwire says "Higher" by Creed was the best hard rock song. That got crazy plays on the radio and was everywhere. Even today, people still know the song word for word.

Check out Loudwire's full list and their reasons at Loudwire.com! They did a great job on this list I'd say.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
