When you think about the funniest movies in the last 50 years what comes to mind? Collider just released their list and people have strong opinions on it.

Just the other day, we were talking on Dave & Chuck The Freak about how there have been no great comedies in the last decade. Seriously, take a minute to think about it. What's the funniest movie in the last 10 years? Go back to 2015 and what can you come up with? It would be hard! However, if you go back a little further, say 50 years, you can get a much better list--but that doesn't mean everyone will agree. Collider.com came out with their own list and there are some I agree with and some that shouldn't have made the list. Check out their rankings below and see what you think. Are these really the funniest movies in the last 50 years?

What Are The Funniest Movies In The Last 50 Years?

When you go back that far, that means you're including all the Adam Sandler movies, Jim Carrey movies, Chris Farley movies, and even stuff decades older like Monty Python stuff! So, what does Collider consider to be the best of the best? Here's Collider.com's Top 10 list:

  1. Airplane! (1980)
  2. This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
  3. The Birdcage (1996)
  4. Bridesmaids (2011)
  5. The Big Lebowski (1998)
  6. Clerks (1994)
  7. The Life Of Brian (1979)
  8. Superbad (2007)
  9. A Fish Called Wanda (1988)
  10. Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy (2004)

What do you think? I think you have a strong argument with Airplane! in first place. It's just joke after joke and it's classic. I have no problems there. However, 2 and 3 I think shouldn't be that high. Great comedies? Sure. But the best of the best? I don't know about that. Maybe I'm biases by my age and what I grew up watching but no Jim Carrey and no Adam Sandler on a list of best comedy movies of the last 50 years? You're missing out on something. Dumb and Dumber should be on the list. I'd say the original Happy Gilmore should also be on the list.

What do you think the list is missing?

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
