A Michigan man is going viral online for hiding his life-changing lottery win from his kids. That is--until now.

Do you think you'd be able to keep such a massive secret? There would certainly be advantages. You wouldn't have to worry about people hitting you up for money and looking for a handout. That would be obnoxious and hard to deal with. However, could you keep that secret from your own children? Certainly there are ways that they could greatly benefit from that lottery win. It sounds like this Michigan man did a good job hiding it but he's finally ready to come clean. Would you be able to hide it from your family? There's no way I'd be able to, you'd see it written all over my face.

According to People, the Michigan man, 70-year-old Kenneth Stayt, recently won $25,000 a year for life through the Lucky For Life game on a ticket he purchased at Sagebrush Cantina in Fenton. He says he typically plays Keno but opted for a change this time--and good thing he did!

In an interesting decision, he chose to keep the win from his children. Stayt tells People, "I've been keeping my big win a secret from my kids and now that I have my check, I plan to surprise them with the money!" He recently claimed his prize at the Michigan Lottery HQ and chose the one-time lump payment of $390k. What's he going to do with the money? He tells People that he's going to share some of it with family and friends and then invest the rest. Smart choice!

I was worried that he hid the payment from his kids for a long time but sounds like it wasn't that long, he just didn't tell them right away. Would you keep it a secret? I would love to be able to and then share what happened with my family while on the vacation that I just bought them. That would be a fun surprise. However, I lack a good poker face and you'd see my win coming from miles away.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
