Do you remember earlier this year when former Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton was arrested for DUI? We talked about it on Dave & Chuck The Freak and did quite the deep dive into memory lane talking about her. Now, bodycam footage of her arrest has been released and it has the internet talking...again. The video footage and mugshot that were released have both been described as "shocking" by commenters on social media. Check it out for yourself in this YouTube video shared by Page Six.

The 57-year-old former Olympian is seen on video in a yellow shirt and appears to be intoxicated in the video. She's given a sobriety test and it doesn't appear to go very well for her. At one point, she even seems to mutter, "oh my God" and "oh, come on." For a gymnast, you'd expect better balance, I would think.
She refused a breathalyzer and even tried to pull the "you know who I am" routine, according to Yahoo! Her mugshot isn't much better than the video, she appears to be upset and crying in it. Yahoo! reports that a police report says she drove her Porsche all over the roadway with a container of wine beside her. You can't do that! I love me a bottle of wine, but it's best enjoyed at home or in a restaurant--not while you're driving. You can see her mugshot provided by the Fairmont City Police Department below.

According to Yahoo!, Retton later apologized saying, "I take full responsibility for my actions. What happened was completely unacceptable. I make no excuses. To my family, friends and my fans: I have let you down, and for that I am deeply sorry. I am determined to learn and grow from the experience, and I am committed to making positive changes in my life. I truly appreciate your concern, encouragement and continued support." Sounds like she's sincere and hoping to better herself from here. Hopefully she's able to get the help she needs and this was the wake-up call she needed.
