A Michigan man has been charged with 8 felonies after lighting a massage parlor on fire. That is not a happy ending.

The incident reportedly happened at a massage parlor in Garden City, Michigan. A Dearborn man, Ali Al-Shimary, was arrested after being accused of setting a massage parlor on fire and is now facing 8 felony charges, per FOX 2 Detroit. One of those charges is attempted murder. He was also charged with 2 counts of arson, 2 counts of assault with intent to murder, 2 counts of unlawful imprisonment, and 2 counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, per FOX 2 Detroit. See a video report on the incident below.

Man Facing 8 Felony Charges After Lighting Massage Parlor On Fire

FOX 2 Detroit reports that one of the victims said Al-Shimary had come to the spa intoxicated and during the session made an "unreasonable request" which the employees denied. That's when he reportedly became irate and started breaking items in the business and even took the victim's phones and locked them in the laundry room. FOX 2 Detroit says he also took $50 before lighting the business on fire. A probable cause conference and preliminary exam are expected to take place later this month.

Can't help but wonder what the "unreasonable request" was. The fact that it happened inside a massage parlor makes me wonder if he possibly asked or requested a happy ending and was denied? That could make sense given the details. He's now facing a lot of charges over the matter.

That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
