A Florida man reportedly shot himself in an attempt to win over his co-worker. Safe to say it did not work.

People will go incredibly far to try to win over the heart of another. We see in movies all the time and it also happens in real life. In movies, you often see someone running through the airport and passing security to chase their loved one down to tell them how they feel. You see people go on crime sprees for their love and more. Well, turns out crazy stuff like that happens in real life too. This guy had quite the scheme in play to gain sympathy from a female co-worker. However, it's probably safe to say that won't be happening now. Especially now that the report is out and going viral. It all happened in Brevard County, Florida.

Did A Florida Man Shoot Himself To Win Over A Co-Worker?

According to Click Orlando, officers were called to a FedEx warehouse after hearing reports about gunshots. When they arrived, they found a FedEx employee, 30-year-old Alexander Lefort, lying on a couch in the facility with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Click Orlando reports that he claims he was shot in the parking lot by a man wearing a balaclava who fled on foot. He was taken to the hospital to treat his injury while a search for the shooter happened.

Law enforcement searched his car and ended up finding a shell near his car and a loaded firearm in the driver's side door, per Click Orlando. An affidavit obtained by Click Orlando reads, "It should be noted that Mr. Lefort's vehicle had been parked in the furthest portion of the northwest parking lot, which put the vehicle almost out of view from the surveillance cameras. In addition, the parking lot appeared to be at only half capacity, but Mr. Lefort's vehicle was furthest from the building's main entrance."

It was later determined that Lefort gave inconsistent details in his story and an officer brought up that he was previously accused of stalking a co-worker and leaving notes on her vehicle along with sending unwanted texts messages. Click Orlando reports that he was arrested in the stalking case after the shooting happened and it was later confirmed that the shell matched his firearm. It's now believed he did it all to gain sympathy from his female co-worker. You can see his mugshot provided the Brevard County Sheriff's Office below.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
