On March 4, the county gave the green light to spend $1.6 million to repair the Punta Rassa boat ramp. This is the first major step toward rebuilding the facility that Hurricane Ian destroyed.

Phase 1 construction begins immediately on plumbing and handicap-accessible ramps. By summer, teams will begin Phase 2 — installing fish cleaning stations and repairing the docks. Everything should be done by fall.

The paving should be done by July 2025. Then it'll take about a month to paint lines and put up signs before boaters can use it again.

Funding comes from the Lee County General Fund and the Florida Division of Emergency Management Legislative Appropriations Program Fund.
