You have to be pretty drunk in order to do that, I will say. The former Deputy Of The Year is now disgraced after being busted in the incident. It reportedly happened outside of Skyview Elementary School in Lizella, Georgia. Clearly, this officer has seen better days and I'm not expecting him to win Deputy Of The Year in 2024.
Former Deputy Of The Year Busted For DUI
According to Law & Crime, when Houston County Sheriff's Deputy Garrison Page was asked what he was doing and whether or not he needed medical attention he responded, "none of your business." Not the best way to start a conversation. It sounds like he was new to the Houston County Sheriff's Office after previously working in law enforcement for Bibb County--he was only 8 days on the job before his arrest, per Law & Crime.
It sounds like he was allegedly slurring his words and having trouble with his balance while talking with officers about what he was up to. Law & Crime reports he even walked away at one point in order to keep standing in the road. Witnesses who observed him said he appeared to not be right and was talking to himself while directing cars that weren't there. Maybe he was just getting some practice in? Working on his form for the next time he has to direct traffic?
Law & Crime reports that Page smelled of alcohol and was detained on suspicion of DUI for allegedly driving to the scene. An open can of Mike's Harder Lemonade and an unopened can of Natural Light beer were reportedly found inside his patrol car, per Law & Crime. You don't want to be busted with Mike's. Anything but Mike's! Back in 2019, Page won Deputy Of The Year while working for Bibb County. You can see a picture of him with his award below. Those were much better days I can imagine.
It sounds like during the incident he refused to take a breath test and was uncooperative at the Bibb County Jail after being arrested. A warrant had to be obtained in order for him to finally get blood drawn and the results of the blood test have not been made public. He was released after being booked on DUI charges and he's now suspended pending termination, per Law & Crime.
