Pro-Tip: Don’t Store Your Guns In The Oven
Some friendly advice: don’t store your guns in the oven. Hopefully that was never something that crossed your mind, but now you can make sure of it.
Some people in Chesterfield County, Virginia gave it a try and the gun fired off multiple shots! Thankfully, nobody was injured during the incident but what on earth were they thinking putting a gun in the oven?
Why You Shouldn’t Store Your Guns In The Oven
According to MSN, an oven in a Chesterfield County home was destroyed after a resident reportedly put a loaded gun inside and turned it on, resulting the in the gun firing off multiple shots. Emergency crews came out to the scene after the oven explosion. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found a gun inside the oven. Pictures obtained by Chesterfield County Fire & EMS show the gun partially melted onto one of the oven’s racks.
MSN reports that someone placed the loaded gun in the oven and then turned it on. Once the gun started heating up, it went off and reportedly fired off a total of 5 rounds. That could have been incredibly dangerous! Someone could have been seriously hurt or even killed by doing this! Again, nobody was hurt but this was a terrible decision.
Fire officials on Facebook say, “When you place any item in the oven it is easy to forget it is there, which can lead to a fire or something worse when you turn it on. You should also make sure to properly store your firearms. Keep them somewhere secure, like a gun safe.” Oh, so it sounds like it wasn’t done on purpose and was an accident? Who stores their gun in the oven? Even if it’s just for a minute that doesn’t make any sense. You can see the Facebook post shared by Chesterfield County Fire and EMS below. Always check your oven before you start heating it up! There could be an old pizza box in there, leftovers, or a gun you mistakenly left in there. You don’t want that to heat up and go off.
Keeping your guns in a gun safe might sound like a wild idea–but they work! They can keep you and your family safe. It’s a great way to ensure that your gun doesn’t go off inside the oven. You can see pictures shared from the scene above. The gun is actually melted onto the oven rock! It’s coming through the bottom. That oven is also quite destroyed. Going to need a new one where they can cook up their dinner and store their guns.
