95-Year-Old Canadian Man Charged For Driving A Scooter While Impaired
A 95-year-old Canadian man has been charged for driving a scooter while impaired. Thankfully, a symphony of destruction was avoided.
Unfortunately, it sounds like even on a scooter the elderly man was going too slow in the middle of the road. Now, he’s been charged with impaired driving after being arrested by the Ontario Provincial Police.
Elderly Canadian Man Arrested For Driving A Scooter While Impaired
Picturing an old 95-year-old man on a scooter is far from an easy thing to do. Sure, you can probably hear Chuck and Andy playing the character and having some fun behind the wheel, or handlebars I suppose in this case. However, at 95-years-old those things can be pretty difficult to manage! Also, it doesn’t sound like he was Speedy McGee on the scooter.
According to CTV News, the incident took place just before 1am on August 30th when the Ontario Provincial Police were alerted to a scooter blocking the roadway on Pine Street. In a news release obtained by CTV News, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said, “Police located a low-speed mobile scooter stationary in the middle of the road. The operator was arrested for impaired driving and then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.” Following said testing, he was charged with impaired driving and is expected to return to court on October 3rd in North Bay. Additionally, his license was reportedly suspended for 90 days, according to reports.
According to CTV News, police said, “The OPP would like to remind the public that if you see a possible impaired driver on our roadways, waterways, or trails…dial 911 as impaired driving never ends well. Please plan a way to get home safely.” I feel like if I was on the road at the same time as this was happening I’d definitely be suspicious seeing a 95-year-old man on a scooter. I think it would be odd to see it during broad daylight in the middle of the afternoon, so seeing it at 1am would definitely ring some alarms.
There’s no video and no mugshot available as this happened in Canada, but I think the story does a good enough job allowing us to paint a picture of it in our heads. Thankfully, it sounds like nobody was hurt during the incident including the 95-year-old Canadian man. However, he’s not the first Canadian to make headlines.
