Families In 1979 Interviewed About Taking Their Kids To See The Alien Movie
We love when old clips from back in the day make the rounds. Today, with the release of the new ‘Alien: Romulus’ movie, a clip from 1979 resurfaced. It’s a reporter interviewing parents who took their kids to see the original ‘Alien’ film and ask them if they regret it or not.
The original news report that aired in 1979 was done in Fort Worth, Texas. Outside of the Ridglea Theater, a news reporter is discussing the ‘Alien’ movie and interviews parents with their kids coming out of the film. You can see the full video of the original news report here, if you like.
The first parent is asked if they regret taking their young son to the horror movie and he answers yes. The kid is then asked if he liked it and he said yes as well. The next family is the highlight of the video. The dad explains why he took his son to see this movie and his answer is hilarious. Essentially, he says that the plot of ‘Alien’ could happen in real life and it’s something that his kid needed to see.
Then, the best part. The kid is asked if he was scared by the film and he gives a very simple and polite, “yes ma’am I was.” We understand it fully kid. We aren’t really the horror movie crowd and Chuck even mentions at one point how he was scared of ‘Signs’ when he was an adult.
We think it would be amazing to find the kids from the original news story today and see how they turned out. Being introduced to some of those films at such a young age has to be impressionable. I mean, Dave has a fear of clowns today because he saw ‘Poltergeist’ too young. Andy has mentioned how ‘Cocoon’ really freaked him out as a kid as well.
If you have any examples of a movie you saw too young, or one that has changed you then please share them with us. You can call us anytime or the best way is to email the show at [email protected].
