Oklahoma City Phone Repair Employee Allegedly Sent Explicit Video To Himself From Woman's Phone
The incident happened in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma recently. Now, the phone repair employee has been arrested and is facing counts of larceny and violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act, per KOCO.
According to KOCO, the victim went to The Fix at Penn Square Mall on a Friday afternoon to get her phone's screen repaired. It happens to the best of us. While it's rarely a cheap fix, it can be done. Reports say that while her phone was getting repaired she was on her MacBook and received a conversation notification. Odd because she wasn't having a conversation with anyone on her computer and her phone wasn't in her possession. KOCO reports the text message contained an explicit video originating from her phone and was sent to an unknown number.
She didn't have to do much detective work, much of it was handled for her, it appears. According to KOCO, the employee eventually gave her phone back along with his business card with his name and number on it. Coincidentally, the number on the card matched the number of the random phone number in the text message earlier.
It sounds like the man accessed a locked photo album from her phone while he had access to it and then allegedly sent an explicit video from her phone onto his, per KOCO. The suspect has since been identified as Kayahan Altun. He has since been booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center and is facing charges of larceny and violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.
It's scary to hear something like this happen! You always know it's a possibility when you bring your phone in for a repair and give away your phone password to a stranger, but you never expect it to happen to you!
