Douchebag Of The Day: Maserati-Driving Thief Steals From Banana Stand

A Maserati-driving thief stole from a pay-what-you-can banana stand and the math isn't adding up. Certainly, you'd think he could afford it!

The story is taking off online as it's the perfect display of juxtaposition. If anyone should be generous at one of these stands, it should be the guy in the Maserati! However, that's rarely how it plays out. Who would have thought the guy in the sports car would turn out to be a massive douche? Here's more on the Maserati-driving thief that's our Douchebag Of The Day!

According to 9 NEWS, a Queensland business is now installing security cameras on its fruit stands after a Maserati-driving thief was caught on video allegedly taking a bunch of bananas without paying for them. It all reportedly happened in broad daylight at 3:30pm! I guess it's true what they say, "there's always money in the banana stand."

In the video, you can see the man loading up as many bananas as he could before seeming to drive away without paying for all of those bananas. The owner of the stand seems like a cool guy! He tells 9 NEWS, "If you don't have the money and the kids are hungry, grab a banana." However, it was clear that this guy could definitely afford a banana and his family is not going hungry.

I learned from an early age that the Honor System rarely works. I remember Trick-Or-Treating on Halloween and seeing some bowls left out with the Honor System saying to only take one piece. Unfortunately, those buckets were always empty. Kids took as many as they could. It's a shame because you should be able to trust people when you're doing them a favor already! This is why we can't have nice things!
