Are iPhones Resurrecting People’s Deleted Nudes?
Could the new iPhone update be resurrecting people’s deleted nudes? People are claiming it’s been happening to them! They say that deleted nudes have been returning on their phones that they deleted years ago.
Is this a widespread issue? Or are a few people getting hacked? What is going on? See more details on this trending story below.
iPhone Update Resurrecting People’s Deleted Nudes?
Deleted nudes are not the photos you want to see return to your phone. Maybe an old vacation or family trip–that would be nice. However, deleted nudes are something you hope are gone forever. Yet, that’s not happening for some people who have been reporting this problem.
According to The New York Post, the Apple iOS 17.5 update is causing years-long deleted photos to reappear on phones. On Reddit, one person said, “I went to send a picture and saw that the latest pictures were [not safe for work] material we’d made years ago when we were living apart.” That makes it even more weird! The photos just aren’t reappearing in phones or in your photo library when they were taken. They’re coming to the front as recent additions? That doesn’t sound like it’s supposed to happen.
However, that Reddit user wasn’t alone. Other commenters said it has happened to them, as well. Another person on the Reddit post said, “Same heer. I have four pics from 2010 that keep reappearing as the latest pics uploaded to iCloud. I have deleted them repeatedly.” This is a nightmare scenario! You want those gone and deleted and it’s expected that our phones will do that.
However, it doesn’t seem to be exclusive to just these nude photos. Other people on Reddit and social media have said they received old deleted voicemails on their phone. What could be causing this? It could be a glitch in the software. It could be hackers. There are so many options and possibilities it’s hard to pinpoint it. It’s noteworthy because it comes about a month after Apple warned many users that their phones were targeted in a mercenary cyber attack, per The New York Post.
