Metallica was one of many prominent artists to perform at the 2024 Gershwin Prize Ceremony honoring Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Now, footage has been released of the iconic band's performance.
Metallica shared a clip of their performance of "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" via X (formerly Twitter). They wrote, "Sir Elton John helped cover 'Nothing Else Matters' on The Metallica Blacklist in 2021, and tonight, you can see us return the favor! Tune in to @pbs to catch our rendition of 'Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding' at this year’s #GershwinPrize for Popular Music, celebrating the achievements of Elton John and his writing partner, Bernie Taupin."

As previously reported, John and Taupin were honored with the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song on March 20 in Washington, D.C. John and Taupin are the second and third British musicians to receive this American honor. The first was Paul McCartney in 2010.
Past Gershwin Prize recipients include Joni Mitchell (2023), Lionel Richie (2022), Garth Brooks (2020), Gloria and Emilio Estefan (2019), Tony Bennett (2017), Smokey Robinson (2016) and many more iconic musicians.
Metallica Resumes M72 World Tour in 2024
Metallica resumes their M72 World Tour in May. The band split up their world tour over the course of two years in support of their latest album, 72 Seasons. Their 2024 North American tour dates are below.

Metallica is one of the most revered bands of all time with a catalog any up-and-coming band could only dream of having. It's impossible imagining the rock/metal landscape without them.
With this in mind, we did a deep dive on the mighty Metallica catalog focusing only on albums/EPs with new material (sorry, Garage Inc.) but excluding Lulu, their infamous 2011 collaboration with Lou Reed for obvious reasons (not sorry about that.)
