In society, it's seen as polite for the man to pick up the bill during a date. Especially on the first date. However, it doesn't always happen. Watch the viral video as a first date goes bad when the guy asks his date to split the bill.

Does he have a fair point? Is he in the wrong? Everybody will have their own opinion on this one.

First, just because something is expected to happen doesn't mean it should. It's 2024 and times are different than they were 10, 20, and 30 years ago. Expectations and customs have changed. So, in these times is the man still expected to pay for the bill?

Certainly, it's up for debate. It will vary person to person and situation to situation. Personally, I would go into a first date expecting to pay. However, there have been times where we ended up splitting the bill. Maybe she insisted on it. Or, perhaps I left my wallet on home on accident. Hey, it happens.

However, even if one goes into a date expecting to pay for it, it doesn't always end up going according to plan. What if she orders a ton of food? Or, what if she requests the most expensive bottle on the menu and you don't drink? Also, she could end up ordering an appetizer that you have no interest in and don't end up having any of. Are you still expected to pay for that? Well, that's what happened to one guy in Miami and it's now going viral online.

@TheWaterBoy shared the incident on TikTok. Now, he's wondering why he's the bad guy. in his view, she ordered the appetizer that he didn't eat, why should she be mad that she should pay for it? Contrarily, in her perspective, he asked her on the date, shouldn't he pay for the date? That's where the debate begins!

My biggest problem with this? The fact that he filmed it. Ouch, man. However, had he not filmed it we wouldn't have this video to be debating with our friends over.
