Pretty safe to say that if you’ve flown before, you’ve had a sketchy landing on a runway. Maybe the plane took a little longer to stop than you’d like. Or, that feeling in your stomach when the plane suddenly drops much faster than you expected. Well, how about when the plane lands on a frozen river by mistake? Because that’s what just happened in Russia.
Plane Lands on Frozen River by Mistake
When thinking of cold places on Earth, Siberia in the winter is an easy answer. Notoriously below freezing temperatures and snow are a constant in the Russian region. Well, according to DailyMail.co.uk, a passenger plane carrying 30 people made a serious error while landing in Siberia by mistaking a frozen river for the runway. The temperatures at the time of landing were -41 degrees Fahrenheit. Yes, you read that right. -41 degrees Fahrenheit. The four crew members and all 30 passengers were uninjured according to reports from DailyMail.co.uk and the plane was eventually removed from the cracking ice.
How Cold is Siberia?
The Russian region of Siberia is one of the coldest on Earth. According to ClimatesToTravel.com, the average winter temperature is around -30 degrees Fahrenheit. In the summer months it can get up to a balmy high of freezing or 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Right around 32 degrees. It does depend whether you are more inland, and East or West, but the winters are brutally cold.
2024 Vacations booked?
We are sure there are some beautiful sights in Siberia but frigid winter temperatures aren’t what we are looking for in a vacation. When you live in the cold already, traveling to Siberia in the winter seems to be counterproductive! Have you been to Siberia? What’s the cold place you’ve traveled too? 9 Things That Happened in Classic Rock/Pop in 2023 You Forgot About
With Christmas officially in the rearview, it’s time to sit back, relax and look back on the year that was. Even briefly looking back at 2023, we must say this year was kind of a weird, chaotic one.
This fun, whimsical list isn’t meant for recapping earth-shattering things. Oh, no…this list is meant for the leftfield things that seemed to happen for no reason whatsoever. Again, 2023 was far more random than any of us realize until you actually sit and think about it. We cannot stress this enough!
Before moving forward, we would like to make one thing clear: This list isn’t about looking back and saying, “Hey, do you remember that (insert celebrity here) died in 2023?” Sadly, we have a whole separate list just about notable celebrity deaths in 2023. While 2023 was whimsically unique, it was also pretty brutal. Many true icons and legends sadly left us.
A lot of strange things happened, as you’ll see in the list below. We saw a controversial classic rock song covered and updated by a modern rock band. We had one of the biggest classic rock bands continue to be filled with drama. (And no, we’re not talking about KISS.) Plus, one classic rock icon earned a major win he’s wanted for decades.
On top of all of that, we saw one notable figure in rock have a fall from grace that was equal parts shocking and laughable. Plus, there were unexpected and welcomed returns, particularly one that happened during the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony.
Without further ado, here are nine things that happened in the classic rock/pop world in 2023 that you may have forgotten about. Repeat: This year was friggin’ weird! That being said, enjoy this trip down memory lane. Here’s hoping 2024 is just as random. It just makes life more interesting.
