2 Guys Break World Record By Visiting 99 Pubs In 24 Hours
Pint of real ale on the bar in a traditional English pub in the United Kingdom
Two guys in Australia have set a new world record after they managed to visit 99 pubs within a 24-hour period!
If we were to ask you where in the world the record for number of pubs visited in one day was broken, you may guuess the United States of America, Canada, Germany or Italy. Or, perhaps the United Kingdom (you know that one of Dave’s relatives in Ireland could easily shatter this record). All of those are great guesses, but the one location missing from the list is Australia and that’s where it happened!
Harry Kooros and Jake Loiterton, both 26-year-old men from Australia, set a new Guinness World Record after they visited 99 pubs in the Sydney area, all in one day. If your concerned about the duo ending up in a hospital with alcohol poisoning, it is important to point out that they only had to visit the pubs and drink something, not necessarily an alcoholic beverage.
Their original plan was to visit 100 pubs and to have an alcoholic beverage at every second location, but were forced to reconsider, due to Sydney’s strict intoxication laws. Their final tally also fell one pub short of their original goal of 100 after a counting error. Needless to say, 99 pubs in one day is still an impressive achievement and we assume they were plenty bombed, even after declining to order alcohol at more than half of their stops.
Kooros and Loiterton shattered the previous record, which was set by Heinrich de Villiers of South Africa after he visited 78 pubs in 24 hours last year. Could you break either record? If you were to set a world record, what would it be?

21 Best Rock Songs About Drinking/Booze
Pull up a stool and start running a tab, because we’re diving into one of rock’s most popular topics: Alcohol. Frankly, it’s practically a worldwide pastime.
After all, Benjamin Franklin is credited with saying, “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” Frank Sinatra once said, “Alcohol may be man’s worst enemy, but the Bible says love your enemy.” And then, there’s the greatest quote about alcohol in the world: “I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly.”
Whether it’s beer or wine or spirits, there are countless songs in rock history about drinking. Some of these songs are upbeat, while others are dark. Some are joyous, while others are sorrowful. Regardless, many have resonated with fans spanning multiple generations.
(Before moving forward, let’s make one thing very clear: This list isn’t meant to glorify drinking. We all know that the bottle has taken away some of the greats that we still miss today. Didn’t mean to be a downer, but it’s a sentiment worth mentioning because it’s very important. So please, drink responsibly. Now, back to the list.)
When it comes to songs about booze, which ones are the best? Surely, that’s a great debate to be had sitting at any bar. (And we strongly encourage that conversation the next time you’re at a bar. Who doesn’t love a tipsy debate?) Whether you find this list while at your favorite watering hole or come across it at a raucous party, our list will give you the perfect soundtrack for either occasion.
From hard rock to soft rock and everywhere in between, here is our ranking of the 21 best rock songs about drinking or booze. Cheers!
