Florida Job Interview Turns into a High-Speed Stolen Car Chase
Sometimes life is a comedy that writes itself. Like Jacob Thompson, a 23-year-old from Winter Haven. His Florida Job Interview turned into a high-speed car chase in Stolen Car.
According to Fox35, it all started on October 6. That’s when Thompson, decided to liberate a Cadillac SUV from a Pilot Travel Center. Little did he know that the universe had other plans in store for him.
As if the universe had a mischievous sense of humor, the stolen Cadillac was equipped with OnStar, a modern guardian angel for vehicles. The moment Thompson hotwired his newfound chariot, the clock started ticking on his impending doom. He wasn’t about to get very far. OnStar was on his tail faster than you can say “Grand Theft Auto.”
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Jacob Thompson, in all his faulty wisdom, had an upcoming job interview at the very same Pilot store he stole the car from. THE SAME DAMN GAS STATION. Can we say employee of the month?!
Florida Job Interview Gone Bad:
With the stolen vehicle, Thompson embarked on a wild and reckless journey that would put even put some video game car chases to shame. Polk County deputies were on his tail, and a chase ensued. Thompson pushed the Cadillac to its limits, hitting speeds of up to 100 mph. But the universe, still amused by this stupid turn of events, had a surprise in store.
OnStar, decided it was time to teach Thompson a lesson. They remotely shut off the Cadillac’s engine, and soon Thompson lost control. He crashed into a guardrail, and flipped the stolen ride.
Not one to back down, Thompson made a run for it, but deputies weren’t about to let him get away that easily. After a brief struggle, they had their man.
Jacob Thompson faces a whole bunch of felonies, and it turns out he was already on felony probation for burglary and assault. It’s safe to say his job interview didn’t quite go as planned. Oh Jacob… If you’re going to steal a car, don’t schedule a job interview at the scene of the crime, and definitely don’t mess with OnStar.
