Florida Student Debt Ranks On List Of Top 10 States With The Least
One of the most daunting thoughts when it comes to going off to college are the rising costs and possibility of student debt. Luckily, it appears that Florida is one of the states with the least student debt.
There are a wealth of well known colleges and universities across the state. We are so fortunate to have Florida Southwestern and Florida Gulf Coast University right here in our backyard. With those options nearby, those who want to, have the option to eliminate the expense of room and board.
The folks over at WalletHub conducted a recent study looking for the states with the least and the most student debt. Florida is coming in at 7th on the list of states with the least. Amazing!
In order to complete the study, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 12 key metrics. The data set ranges from average student debt to unemployment rate among the population aged 25 to 34 to share of students with past-due loan balances. Student Debt in Florida (1=Most; 25=Avg.):
- 44th – Avg. Student Debt
- 42nd – Proportion of Students with Debt
- 34th – Student Debt as % of Income (Adjusted for Cost of Living)
- 31st – Unemployment Rate of Population Aged 25 to 34
- 28th – % of Student Loans Past Due or in Default
- 31st – Availability of Student Jobs
- 35th – Availability of Paid Internships
- 43rd – Grant Growth

Charleston is a great town. It definitely has parts of it that feel like you’re in a small college town. But it also has parts that have the southern charm of a small town. Great food, great music, and great drinks.
