Are Restaurants Giving Less Food For Online Orders Versus In-Person Dining?
A software engineer from Chicago has noticed something about his online orders versus his in-person dining orders.
Sean Gransee started to notice that he was always still a bit hungry after ordering his food through a third party delivery app, but was never craving those extra snacks after ordering the same meal in person. So he started taking notes and collecting data on his orders.
He took the time to put all of his research into an Instagram Reel, you can watch here.
He would weigh his online orders and in-person orders and the results do show that his online orders weighed less.
Some offer the explanation that for an online order employees have more time to prepare the order and can follow the recipe exactly. When you order in-person there is more stress to quickly put the ingredients together so you end up getting a bit more.
