Florida Man Does Donuts, Hits Cop Car, Crashes, Goes To Pokey
We’ve all seen the large black circles in the middle of intersections. Those are tell-tale signs that someone did donuts there, and they are popping up everywhere.
It’s smaller version of a “meet up”, when mostly young people gather in a predetermined location to hang out and street race. It’s been happening for years in Tampa Bay and often happens around the bridges between Tampa and St. Pete. But doing a donut is generally not thought of as a big deal. It normally involves one car, turning the wheel, flooring the gas pedal and spinning in circles. That’s not always the case, though. Sometimes you do a donut at exactly the wrong time and place. That’s what happened to Florida man.
Investigators say 25-year-old Jarret Gordon Hefler was observed by an officer doing donuts in an intersection. During the reckless driving, the officer saw the man run into a median and lose control. That’s when the officer kicked on his lights and pulled the suspect over. Florida man initially pulled over, but changed his mind at the last moment, throwing his car into reverse and slamming into the cruiser before taking off again. For the record, that’s big no-no.
After a short chase, Hefler lost control of his car and crashed, leaving the car undrivable. The man was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated fleeing with property damage, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. Hefler was taken to the Brevard County Jail, where he remains without bond. Source: Fox35Orlando.com
