Film Producer Robs Orlando Bank To Fund Movie

I'm all about diving at your dreams. If you wanna swim with the Stingrays in Belize or scale Mount Everest, I say go for it! You only have a certain amount of time on the planet, and you should strive to achieve your goals before you take the eternal dirt nap. But there are exceptions, like today's Florida man story. Police in Orlando say a man decided to rob a bank in Orange County earlier this year so he could realize his dream....of producing his own movie.
Making movies is huge money, requiring millions of dollars in financing before a camera ever starts rolling. But how does a guy run across THAT kind of money? Back in June of last year, investigators say 54-year-old Nacoe Ray Brown robbed an Orange County bank in an effort to secure enough money to produce his own movie. According to authorities, Brown acted out his plan to rob the McCoy Federal Credit Union in Belle Isle, Florida. They say Brown handed a threatening note to the teller. The note siad he had a gun and told her to give him all of the money in her drawer. Police say Brown was dressed in a baseball cap, singlasses and rubber gloves as he robbed the bank branch. Investigators with the Justice department say brown then left the scene with $4,500 in cash.
A witness observed Brown fleeing to a gas station bathrooom, where he changed out of the clothes he was wearing during the robbery. Police were able to track Brown to his hotel room closeby and arrested him there. During the arrest, officers found the suspect's demand note, all of the cash and the outfit he wore to rob the bank. During questioning, Brown told detectives that he stole the money so he could finance a movie that he was producing in Florida, saying he had run out of money during its production. Brown faces 20 years in prison for the bank robbery and another 3 years for violating the terms of a previous prison release. Brown was on probation for robbing 3 banks in Baltimore back in 2001. Brown was granted an early release in 2020 after serving 19 years of his 25 year sentence. Source: OrlandoSentinel.com
