A Jockey and Racehorse Both Tested Positive for Meth
A trainer from New Zealand and her have just been banned from competing for 3 years after testing positive for methamphetamines.
The Racing Integrity Board slapped Rochelle Lockett with the suspension after testing her horse ‘Be Flexi’ after a victory January. The horse was swabbed and came back positive for meth. Lockett was then required to provide samples to be tested and both came back positive as well.
After the results came back she admitted to using meth on her birthday a few days before the race, but was NOT sure how it could have gotten in the horse’s system.
If Lockett can get clean and stay that way for 18 months they may allow her back into racing. Right now she is focusing on her recovery.
