A lot of local businesses have seen a growth in homelessness along the times square area of Fort Myers Beach recently.
Jacinta Ingream and her husband Jason, owners of Mango Ritas, have especially been having a hard time dealing with it.
When Jason opened on Monday, he found a homeless man sleeping in his bar on an assortment of cardboard boxes and grocery bags. He became very combative when told to leave because he thought he was doing nothing wrong.
This isn’t their first run-in with the homeless on their property. Just recently they found a homeless man sleeping butt-naked in their establishment. And in a separate instance, a man set a fire in front of the cooler that could have set the restaurant ablaze.
The homeless people are even harassing patrons during business hours and it has become quite a problem.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is now increasing nightly patrols in light of this situation.
