Drunk RSW passenger fined $24K
We’ve been hearing a lot about unruly behavior at airports and on flights, and one drunk RSW passenger has been fined $24k for his antics.
Back on March 31, 2021, an unnamed passenger was flying from Fort Myers to Detroit when the FAA claims he repeatedly took off his mask after the flight crew repeatedly asked him to wear it.
It didn’t end there. The passenger was swearing at other passengers, even accusing one of stealing something from him and when a crew member asked him to calm down, he yelled “This is America. This is free speech. What don’t you understand?”
Originally they moved him to the last row of the plane with a crew member to babysit him, but at one point he jumped up, pointing his finger in her face, yelling “You!” The plane was then forced to divert to Atlanta and law enforcement met him at the gate.
The flight crew said that the man appeared to be drunk, and the passenger did admit later that he had been drinking in the airport ahead of his flight.
