Christopher Sacco, 35, was enjoying a nice day of fishing in Fort De Soto on Saturday when he reeled in what he thought was a giant fish. It turned out to be a gun that was weighed down in a grocery bag.
It was a black revolver tied to a rock with red and white twine.
Sacco called the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to report it, and they took the weapon into their possession.
The weapon has been registered into the Florida Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center.
One of the scary parts is that the gun was found near a playground in the area.
Sacco said, “To actually catch something like that, like a gun tied to a brick, somebody didn’t want that gun to be found.”
