At last night’s meeting, fights broke out after the Lee County School District announced that they will now require both teachers and students to wear a mask, doing away with the opt-out form.

The new mask policy will start tomorrow, September 1 and be in effect for 30 days.

NBC2 reports that if students or staff don’t wear masks, the district will follow the same process used last year which could include disciplinary actions.

Lee School officials said there will be a medical opt-out for the mask mandate for both students and staff. Students will need a note from a licensed health care provider and staff will need to request an ADA exemption.
