Brad Stecklein, 46, was recently terminated from his position as the assistant golf pro at the Legends Golf and Country Club in Fort Myers.
He claims that the reason for his termination was unjust and that he had that job for over 14 years.
He is now going on a hunger strike outside of the entrance off of Fiddlesticks blvd.
In some comments that he made to the News-Press, he said, "I'm trying to get the club to give me a severance," and, "They gave me no reason. I'm fasting to make a statement."
Legends general manager and chief operating officer Ranae Frazier declined to comment other than saying that no one is fired for no reason.
The state of Florida is an "At Will" state, meaning that non-contract employees can be fired for no cause or reason and the employers may face no repercussions.
When asked how long he would keep up the hunger strike, he said, "Until I wither away,"
