A Florida Senate Committee unanimously passed a bill banning smoking in state parks and on beaches.
The bill is aimed towards keeping our beaches and state parks clean. According to the bill, around two-thirds of cigarette butts end up as litter which can then be picked up by animals or be taken out to the water.
Now just because this bill passed in the Florida senate does not mean it will actually be mandatory in all counties. An amendment was added leaving the choice up to individual counties and their beaches. But all state parks will enforce the bill.
