Sharon Osbourne Investigation Causes Hiatus For ‘The Talk’

The Talk announced they are canceling their live shows today and Tuesday as CBS investigates an incident involving Sharon Osbourne.

According to Variety, the network announced last week it was launching an internal investigation following Osbourne's heated exchange with The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood, after Osbourne got worked up over potentially being accused of being a racist after defending longtime friend Piers Morgan and his controversial comments about Meghan Markle.

During that episode of The Talk, co-host Sheryl Underwood pointed out to Osbourne, “You’re standing by your friend. It appears that you give safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist.” A flustered Osbourne responded by saying she felt like she was about to be put “in an electric chair.”

Osbourne then told Underwood, “Don’t try and cry, cause if anybody should be crying, it should be me!”

Underwood remained calm throughout, saying she didn’t want any of the viewers watching to think they’re attacking Osbourne.

Per Variety, filming is planned to resume on Wednesday, but after evaluation of the investigation, the show will determine if that is possible before moving forward.

CBS released a statement on Friday following the announcement of its investigation saying, “We are committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace. All matters related to the Wednesday episode of The Talk are currently under internal review.”
