Burglar Loses Battle with Police Dogs

A Florida burglar caught trying to break into a home is feeling a bit sore after he resisted arrest and tried to fight officers and a police K-9!

911 calls came in reporting Eric Tyler Mathis walking in and out of traffic and tried to grab a drivers steering wheel.  Mathis then showed up to that drivers home and was trying to break into the house. When officers arrived they found Mathis hiding behind a blue tarp, he claimed to have lived there and told officers to leave. He refused to cooperate and fight off police officers and eventually a K-9.

Mathis is facing charges for attempted carjacking, attempted burglary, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and more.

Report: Man fought off deputies, K-9 during burglary arrest in Escambia County

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) - A man fought with Escambia County deputies and K9 Zeek while resisting arrest Thursday afternoon for an attempted home burglary, according to a sheriff's report. Eric Tyler Mathis, 25, is charged with attempted carjacking, attempted burglary, three counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, and battery on a police K9.
