Around 1 AM on January 27th, 36-year-old, Richard Brooks was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest without violence, and fleeing and eluding.
Police were tipped off to a white mustang driving the wrong way on the Edison Bridge in North Fort Myers.
An unmarked K9 unit found the car at the foot of the bridge with three flat tires. When confronted by the officer, Brooks, who appeared to be very intoxicated, hit the gas and sped off.
The deputy chased him all the way to Pondella rd. and Tamiami Trail. The officer executed a pit maneuver to stop the vehicle, and Brooks was arrested.
The officer and K9 were unharmed.
