Council members on Fort Myers Beach voted 3 to 2 in favor of keeping beaches open and imposing a mandatory mask requirement.
The mask mandate goes into effect at midnight tonight. Every person over the age of six will have to to wear a mask when they’re unable to social distance and will also need to have a mask ready at all times, whether that’s indoors or outdoors.
Restaurant customers can take their masks off when eating and drinking and people in beauty salons and barbershops can remove their face coverings when receiving services.
People at church or with underlying medical conditions will be exempt from the new ruling.
There are fines for businesses not following this emergency order and for individuals as well
