Jeff Bridges released a teaser video last week showing him back as The Dude from The Big Lebowski. Some were hoping for a sequel, but instead, fans were treated to the latest preview from the newest batch of Super Bowl ads.
In a spot for Stella Artois, two iconic characters from two completely different worlds abandon their cocktail of choice in favor of a Stella. Sex in the City’s Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) enters a bar and just by her presence, a Cosmopolitan is on its way. However, Carrie says, “Nope. Tonight, I’ll have a Stella Artois.” (GASP!)
Enter The Dude, who moseys up to the bar. The bartender asks, “White Russian?” The Dude responds, “No, Gary. Give me a Stella Ar-toes,” butchering the pronunciation of the beer in the most Dude way possible.
The Dude then sits at a table near Carrie, and she compliments him on his drink choice. He responds, “Well, changing can do a little good. The Dude abides.”
As far as pop culture colliding for the sake of the Super Bowl, it doesn’t get more perfect than this.
Since 2015, in partnership with water.org, Stella Artois has helped provide water access for 1.7 million people in need. This year we're proud to partner with Sarah Jessica Parker and Jeff Bridges to bring back their iconic characters to change up their usual and help show how easy it is for anyone to #PourItForward and do good.
