Metallica received Sweden’s Polar Music Prize, the country top music honor, last week, and along with the award came some prize money that the band is generously donating to various charities.

Per Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation, the one million Swedish Kroner prize (about $130,00) will be divided three ways:  50 percent going to the homeless charity Stockholm City Mission, 25 percent will go to World Childhood Foundation and the remaining 25 percent will go to Afghanistan National Institute of Music.

As if that news wasn’t great enough for Metallica, the band’s latest album Hardwired...to Self Destruct  is currently the highest-selling hard rock/metal album in the United States in 2018.

Per MetalInsider.net, Hardwired… has sold 136,000 copies this year.  Despite being released in 2017, the album experienced a heavy sales boost when it was bundled together with ticket purchases for their upcoming summer tour.
