Over the weekend, Guns N’ Roses kicked off another European leg of their ongoing “Not In This Lifetime” tour, and while the band has played some covers in the past, they pulled out a surprising one during their show in Berlin: Velvet Revolver’s “Slither.”
“Slither” was the lead single off of Velvet Revolver’s 2004 debut album Contraband and netted the Scott Weiland-fronted supergroup featuring Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner a GRAMMY for “Best Hard Rock Performance.”
On tour, we’ve seen Slash and McKagan play tracks off of Chinese Democracy, which was admittedly surreal, but who really thought a Velvet Revolver track would make its way onto the GN’R setlist? Here’s hoping for more VR tracks in the future!
