ICYMI: Steven Tyler, Joe Perry Nominated for a Tony Award

When the Tony Award nominations were announced yesterday (May 1), a large amount of coverage was given to Bruce Springsteen receiving a Special Tony for his Springsteen on Broadway show.  However, he wasn’t the only popular musician recognized.

For their contributions to Spongebob Squarepants:  The Musical, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry received a nomination in the category “Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre.”  A number of musician contributed to the music of the Spongebob musical and were nominated alongside the Toxic Twins including The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi & Lauper, John Legend, Panic! at the Disco, Plain White T's and They Might Be Giants.

The Tony Awards will air live on Sunday, June 10 at 8 PM ET on CBS.
