Metallica Breaks A Record In The UK
Metallica has notched a new record in its belt.
The group’s performance before 22,211 on Tuesday (October 24) at London’s O2 Arena set a new attendance record for the venue, breaking Muse‘s mark of 21,000 set in 2016.
The group’s in-the-round staging allowed the O2 to accommodate more fans, and the group received a framed, commemorative poster to commemorate the event before the show. Metallica also used the occasion for the live premiere of “Spit Out The Bone” from its latest album, “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.”
In other news, Metallica will be hosting a benefit concert on November 9 at AT&T Park in San Francisco to raise money for victims of the recent wildfires in northern California. A message on the band’s website reads that, “We’re extremely saddened by the suffering that so many are feeling in the Bay Area, but are also inspired by the enormous outpouring of live and support from all around the country and want to jump in and help in the way we know how to — through music!”
Metallica will be joined by the Dave Matthews Band, rapper G-Eazy and others, with proceeds from the concert going to the Tipping Point Community’s emergency fund for low-income communities in the fire zone.
