Photo by Mike Coppola/Getty ImagesDeep Purple and Black Sabbath veteran Glenn Hughes is "comfortable and resting," according to his publicist, after a health scare in New Zealand on Tuesday (September 26).
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was playing a show of all Deep Purple material in Christchurch when he crouched down on stage during the song "Gettin' Tighter" and was unable to continue the show. He was helped off stage by paramedics, cutting the show short without further explanation -- though in a Facebook post Hughes blamed his collapse on dehydration and apologized for not being able to play his full show.
He writes, "Thanks to all who have sent loving messages...you are all in my thoughts."
Hughes indicated that his Classic Deep Purple Live Tour will continue as planned tonight (September 27) in Wellington, N.Z., heading to Australia later this week. Hughes also released a new album with his band Black Country Communion, BCCIV, on September 22.
