Foo Fighters delighted Japan's Summer Sonic festival over the weekend by Rick Rolling it -- with Rick Astley himself.

Frontman Dave Grohl introduced Astley as "our new best friend," adding, "This is f***ing crazy. I just met him two years ago." Astley then shouted, "Come on all you motherf***ers" before Foo Fighters kicked into the riff of Nirvana's "Smell Like Teen Spirit" that morphed into Astley's smash "Never Gonna Give You Up."

Grohl and Astley later posted a selfie of the two of them together in which the Foos expressed "special thanks to our new best friend!"

The Foos are currently playing dates in the Far East with a German show also on tap before its new album, "Concrete And Gold" comes out September 15. The Foos' North American tour kicks off October 7 at Cal Jam in San Bernardino, Calif.
