Comedian Jim Gaffigan celebrates his 51st birthday today (July 7), and out of all the comedians out today, he definitely has the best material on being a dad.

(Considering he’s a father of five and his wife, Jeannie, also co-writes Jim’s stand-up material, he’s certainly not short on influence.)

Picking just five bits on being a dad/parenting was difficult, but we think we have some great choices.  Enjoy them below!

On Vacationing at Disney World in Orlando in July

“Remember when you were a kid and you’d go on vacation, you’d be like, ‘Why is Dad always in a bad mood?’ Now I understand.”

On Welcoming a Fourth Child

Jim and Jeannie have five kids, but during Jim’s comedy special Mr. Universe, he said on having four kids, “If you want to know what it’s like to have a fourth, just imagine you’re drowning…and then someone hands you a baby.”

On Babies Being The Worst Roommates

“Babies are magic, because they’re the worst roommates.  Like if you had a roommate that did one of the things a newborn does, you’d be like, ‘You’re moving out.”

On People Congratulating the Father on a Child’s Birth

“It’s kind of strange we even congratulate the father.  All I did was have sex.  People are like, ‘How was the pregnancy? Was it difficult?’  ‘Not for me.  I had a good time.  I’d do it again in a heartbeat!’”

On Traveling with his Family

“How you want to deal with jetlag is with having four kids [with you] under the age of 12.”

Unlike Jim Gaffigan, blogger Erica Banas has never had a Hot Pocket.  (Seriously.)

Erica Banas is a news blogger who's been covering the rock/classic rock world since 2014. The coolest event she's ever covered in person was the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. (Sir Paul McCartney inducting Foo Fighters? C'mon now!) She's also well-versed in etiquette and extraordinarily nice. #TransRightsAreHumanRights
